Mount Street Upper (Mount sráid uachtarach)

The terrace contributes strongly to the cohesive character of the street and the wider historic core of south Dublin city. The Pepper Canister creating an interesting centrepiece and terminating one of the key vistas of Georgian Dublin. Now this street houses mainly commercial buildings and offices.

Mount Street Upper (Mount sráid uachtarach)

Mount Street Upper was erected between 1790 and 1834, the variations in the streetscape are indicative of the gradual nature of construction, the north side being notably less grand than the south.

St. Stephen’s Church (also known as the Pepper Canister), designed in 1824 by John Bowden, terminates the vista from Merrion Square.
